Mangrove forests are found in tropical coastal areas around the world, often where freshwater enters the ocean. They carry out a number of important funtions, including: providing key habitat for birds, terrestrial wildlife, fish, and other marine life; collecting and stabilizing sediment and coastlines; retaining nutrients; and filtering pollutants from the water. Unfortunately, an estimated 20% of the world's mangrove areas have been lost since 1980. Help us protect them with your gift!
